The mission of the National Day of Prayer Task Force is to mobilize prayer in America & to encourage personal repentance and righteousness in the culture. The mission of NDP Green Bay is not only to embrace and join in that national mission, but to mobilize prayer in Northeastern Wisconsin and serve as the catalyst for repentance and revival right in our backyard.
The National Day of Prayer is an annual observance held on the first Thursday of May, inviting people to pray for the nation. It was created in 1952 by a joint resolution of the United States Congress, and signed into law by President Harry S. Truman. The National Task Force’s purpose is to encourage participation on the National Day of Prayer. It exists to communicate with every individual the need for personal repentance and prayer, to create appropriate materials, and to mobilize the Christian community to intercede for America’s leaders and its families.
Many Christians are unaware that they live in a nation that has a law in place requiring our President proclaim a National Day of Prayer each year on the first Thursday in May.
The President shall issue each year a proclamation designating the first Thursday in May as a National Day of Prayer on which the people of the United States may turn to God in prayer and meditation at churches, in groups, and as individuals (Public Law 105-225)
As citizens and residents of the United States, and as believers in Christ Jesus, we not only have a spiritual responsibility according to 1Timothy 1:1-2 to pray, but a civic duty as well to heed our President’s call to stand in the gap for our nation. Who but God’s people have the ability to enter into the very throne room of Heaven with prayers and petitions?
Our hope is that individuals, churches, and spiritual leaders in America, will humble ourselves and unify in prevailing prayer for the next great move of God in America. We can come together in clear agreement that this is our greatest need. We can become a visible union, standing together in prayer. We can pray more than ever before, and practice extraordinary prayer for the next great move of God in America that will catapult the message of the gospel nationally and internationally.
“There is no great movement of God that has ever occurred that does not begin with the extraordinary prayer of God’s people.” Dr. Ronnie Floyd
LEAP of FAITH Group, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) organization whose mission is to “set the sail” for revival and reform in Northeast Wisconsin.” It was born out of one special event – Leap of Faith Lambeau on 7-7-07, but God wasn’t done with us at the end of that call to repentance. If something’s happening in the Christian Community in Northeastern Wisconsin, in most cases LEAP of FAITH Group, Inc. is involved, often times it’s the catalyst that helps make it happen. We connect people to help and help people to connect; it’s as simple as that. So when approached to take over the reins of coordinating the local observance of the National Day of Prayer, it was a quick “Yes” when we asked God for guidance.
The ministry may have started with Leap of Faith Lambeau, but since then, God has accomplished so much – more than 120 ministries have been helped through the Leap of Faith Group; and 17 of those ministries are currently housed at the Christian Community Center. Massive movements of bringing the body of Christ together have happened, are happening and are about to happen. As Leap of Faith took small steps out, God intricately wove together so many things in this community, tying the past with the present and giving glimpses into the future… A future where we see a Lambeau II — God is putting the pieces together right now for a call to repentance for our city, our state and our nation!
And There’s More… A Vision for Green Bay: The LEAP of FAITH Group, Inc. ministry is focused entirely on living 2 Chron. 7:14, “If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.” Our efforts are focused on prayer, discipleship and worship as well as evangelism & repentance.
Because we are looking for the result of living that Scripture as we await the coming of the Lord, our mission is to set the sail for a move of God in Northeastern Wisconsin. God is coming, it’s our job to get ready. When? We don’t know. We feel like Noah when God told him to build an ark although he’d never seen rain. This much we do know: a move of God always begins in prayer, it continues in prayer, it’s maintained in prayer and it’s protected in prayer. It’s why we focus so much on prayer: community prayer, intercession and individual prayer. And it’s why we now are humbled and honored to host the National Day of Prayer Green Bay initiative. Won’t you join us on May 2?
